With neurodiversity affirming supports, students can more easily make progress in a number of areas:

Relationships

  • Develop authentic relationships
    (Green,
    2022; Losh et al, 2022).

  • Have affirmation of their gender and sexual orientations (Cooper et al, 2022).

Autonomy

  • Choose when and if they mask autistic traits to appear more neurotypical (Mandy, 2019).

  • Self regulate, and focus, including through being able to stim (Jacques et al, 2018; Kapp et al, 2019).  

  • Self advocate (Cohen et al, 2022). 

Skills

  • Reach their academic & personal goals (Heyworth et al, 2021).

  • Communicate, in various forms
    (Donaldson, et al

A Good Quality of Life

  • Maintain good mental health

  • Reduce chronic physical pain
